Freedom.......of Simplicity

Contemporary culture is plagued by the passion to possess. The unreasoned boast abounds that the good life is found in accumulation, that "more is better...Christian simplicity frees us from this modern mania.  It brings sanity to our compulsive extravagance, and peace to our frantic spirit...it allows us to see material things for what they are--goods to enhance life, not to oppress life.  People once again become more important than possessions" (www.renovare.org)

As a church, we are called to change the culture. Unfortunately, over the last several decades, the prosperity gospel has not only embraced the culture, but it has sought to spiritually legitimize it. If Mr. Foster is correct, and I think he is, that means that all the prosperity gospel has done is bring oppression and a frantic life to those we were supposed to rescue.

That is a terrible perversion of the truth.

So true! And, the glaring reality is that if the "gospel" brings freedom, then the "prosperity gospel" is no gospel at all!!
